Hasbro Toy Fair catalog 1983 - Show Stable

Comments: I don’t actually own this catalog, but when I saw it on eBay several months ago I saved this image from the auction.

This advertisement for the Show Stable is very interesting. The dog is called “Twinkle” rather than Brandy and is a prototype with different colors/paint application. Lemon Drop, the pony who came with the Show Stable is nowhere in sight. Instead it kind of implies that Snuzzle will be the playset pony.

Comments: The “wrinkled” look is due to water damage on the comic. C’est la vie!

I don’t post too much FiM-style fanart here for various reasons, but sometimes they just tickle my fancy.  What I like about this one is the G1 characters being aligned to the FiM characters’ personalities.  It works for me!

Too Many Apples!

Comments: Reminds me of Bread and Jam for Frances. :) All the food in this sounds so good, especially the blackberry tarts.

Farmer Giles … wasn’t he in some supplemental J.R.R. Tolkien story?

Spike the Babysitter

Source: My Little Pony comic #8

Comments: Whoa! Spike seems way too young to be a baby-sitter to me. I guess everything worked out, though.

My favorite part is Spike playfully imitating Cotton Candy at the very beginning. :) Also Spike getting to see all his friends from the Land of Dragons for a moment. They never really explained why Spike lived with Majesty instead of with other dragons but, unlike G4 Spike or even G1 cartoon Spike, G1 comic Spike definitely had draconic friends and relatives whom he sometimes visited.

Comments: And so ends our story, and the Stone-Hearted Sorceror. (I wonder if he was any relation to No-Heart from the Care Bears?)

Comments: First of all, I love the fringed bag Majesty gave Lemon Drop.

Second, the Stone-Hearted Sorceror has GOAT EARS, fabulous!

Third, are those … are those two unicorn horns mounted on the wall in Majesty’s ready room?? Uh, let’s say they’re decorative or carved from wood or something. Yes, let’s go with that.
